The ACADEMY OF 21st CENTURY LEARNING is looking for a Primary grade teacher for 12 students in the upcoming school year (2017-18) in our private STEM-based school. When most people think of STEM, they think middle school and high school, robotics and chemistry—not kindergarten/first graders wearing mini-lab coats and safety goggles.

Using The Academy framework for deeply engaged learning, teachers help children develop the ability to find wonder and delight in the exploration of any topic, to practice working together to turn ideas into reality, and to learn how to communicate what they have done and why. Our educators work alongside the students in a process of co-exploration. The Academy of 21st Century Learning Teachers serve as models for limitless curiosity, openness to new ideas and experiences, and tenacity in the face of challenges. They facilitate and support thoughtful communication, setting the social/emotional tone of the school. The teachers exercises timing and restraint in their presentation of knowledge, material, and advice, and develop curriculum that inspires students to learn core skills needed to access their interests. In the voyage of discovery, they serve as navigator and cartographer while assisting and encouraging students to take the helm.

Students are full partners in their own education, and every child has a highly developed personal educational program. We educate and inspire students in a flexible, mixed-age environment that breaks the traditional walls between school and the community outside the classroom. We offer a learning environment that encourages creative capacity, tenacity, and citizenship.
